Three-line summary
- Bolso is an app you buy (or subscribe to) to use on your iPhone. Nothing in these Terms takes money from you or removes rights you already have under the App Store rules.
- Your financial data is yours. Export it, delete it or take it elsewhere whenever you want.
- The app is not financial advice. It helps you organise records and forecast spending — money decisions are always yours.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By installing or using Bolso you accept these Terms of Use together with the Privacy Policy (public). If you disagree with any clause, simply do not use the app — there is nothing to send us.
If the app is installed on a device used by a child or teenager, the legal guardian is responsible for accepting these Terms on their behalf.
2. Who we are
Bolso is an iOS app maintained by the team behind Bolso, in Portugal.
- General support: support@getbolso.com (public email)
- Privacy and GDPR: privacy@getbolso.com (public email)
- Website: http://getbolso.com/ (public site)
3. License to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use Bolso on the iPhone(s) tied to your Apple ID, in accordance with the App Store rules.
The license does not give you the right to:
- Resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the app.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code, beyond what Portuguese law expressly allows for interoperability purposes.
- Use the app for unlawful, fraudulent or otherwise abusive purposes.
- Remove or alter any intellectual property notices in the app.
The intellectual property of the app - including design, branding, icons and source code - belongs to the team behind Bolso or to its licensors.
4. Apple's standard EULA
Apple's App Store automatically applies the Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) (external) to every install. These Terms coexist with that EULA and prevail over it only where they are more favourable to the user.
The App Store is solely responsible for billing, restores and refunds for subscriptions — the entire transaction relationship is between you and Apple.
5. Subscriptions and trial
5.1 Bolso Pro
- The Bolso Pro subscription comes in two flavours — monthly and yearly — at the prices listed on the app's App Store page.
- Subscriptions are processed by the App Store using the payment method tied to your Apple ID. We never receive or store your payment data.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel them in your Apple ID settings. You can cancel anytime without telling us; Pro access stays until the end of the period you have already paid for.
5.2 Trial period
- A new install includes a local 7-day trial that does not require an active subscription.
- The trial is app-managed, never goes through the App Store and ends automatically after 7 days.
- After the trial ends, features marked Bolso Pro stay locked until you subscribe.
5.3 Refunds
- App Store subscription refunds are handled by Apple, following App Store rules. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com (external).
- We do not issue refunds directly, because the payment never reached us in the first place.
5.4 Family Sharing
- Bolso Pro products are configured as familyShareable. If the subscription owner is part of an Apple Family, other members get access to Bolso Pro.
- Additionally, in Bolso family sharing (CKShare): the owner's subscription covers the family's edit access to the shared workspace. If the subscription lapses, participants drop to read-only.
6. Bolso is not financial advice
This section matters:
- The app organises financial information that you enter and shows you numbers, charts and forecasts based on that data.
- Nothing the app shows is financial, tax, legal or investment advice. The app does not replace an accountant, tax advisor or financial planner.
- Money decisions remain entirely yours. We are not responsible for choices you make based on what the app shows.
If you need advice on sensitive financial topics (taxes, investments, loans, etc.), consult a certified professional.
7. Your financial data is yours
You retain full ownership of the data you enter (records, accounts, attachments, categories, etc.). In particular:
- You can export your full history as JSON or XLSX with one tap (Settings > Export data).
- You can delete all data anytime (Settings > Delete all data, or delete the app, or remove it from your iCloud account).
- We keep no copies on any server, because we have no server.
The technical details on where data lives (device, iCloud, family sharing) and how to exercise GDPR rights are in the Privacy Policy.
8. Responsible behaviour
By using Bolso you agree to:
- Enter data that concerns you (or someone who has authorised you to do so on their behalf, e.g. a household).
- Not use the app for money laundering, fraud, tax evasion or any other unlawful activity.
- Not attempt to bypass the app's technical limits (Pro gating, encryption, biometric authentication).
- Keep your Apple account secure (passcode, biometrics, two-factor) — your Apple account is, in practice, the access key to your data when iCloud sync is on.
We reserve the right to terminate the license to use the app if continued abusive use is detected, with no refund of subscriptions already paid (except where Portuguese law requires one).
9. Availability and updates
- We distribute updates through the App Store. We recommend keeping the app up to date to receive fixes and improvements.
- We may discontinue features or the entire app at any time, with reasonable notice (at least 30 days) inside the app and/or on the App Store page when paid features in active use are affected.
- We reserve the right to change technical limits (e.g. maximum number of attachments per record, maximum size per attachment) with reasonable notice.
- When an iOS version is no longer supported by Apple, we may drop support for that version. We will always do so with at least one major iOS version of advance notice.
10. Limitation of liability
Within the limits allowed by Portuguese law:
- The app is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of fitness for a specific purpose, uninterrupted service, freedom from errors or compatibility with third-party hardware or software.
- We are not liable for:
- Data loss caused by device failure, your iCloud account, CloudKit sync issues or manual deletion you performed.
- Financial decisions you made based on information organised by the app.
- Delays or temporary unavailability of third-party services (Apple, App Store, iCloud, CloudKit, StoreKit).
- We do not exclude liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury, or any other liability Portuguese law does not allow us to exclude.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the app is capped at the amount paid in subscriptions in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, unless Portuguese law requires a higher cap.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims (including reasonable legal costs) arising from:
- Use of the app in breach of these Terms or the Privacy Policy.
- Entering data into the app that you have no right to process.
- Breaching laws applicable in the country where you are using the app.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect legal, technical or business changes. For material changes, we will give at least 30 days notice inside the app and bump the version number (field at the top).
If you disagree with the new version, you can cancel the subscription and/or delete the app before the effective date — continuing to use the app afterwards means accepting the updated version.
13. Termination
These Terms remain in force until terminated:
- By you: by deleting the app and/or cancelling the subscription.
- By us: in case of serious breach of these Terms or if we discontinue the app.
Upon termination, all use licenses are revoked immediately. The sections on intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law and indemnity survive termination.
14. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by Portuguese law.
Any disputes will be submitted to the competent Portuguese courts, except where mandatory law assigns exclusive jurisdiction to another court.
If you prefer, you can use the consumer arbitration centres available in Portugal — see www.consumidor.gov.pt (external) for the up-to-date list.
For data-protection matters, you can lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD) — www.cnpd.pt (external).
15. Final provisions
- If any clause in these Terms is found invalid, the invalidity only affects that clause. Everything else remains in force.
- Our failure to enforce a right under these Terms at any given moment does not waive that right.
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and the team behind Bolso regarding the use of Bolso, and prevail over any earlier oral or written communication on the same topic.
